Wildnet develops world's first jewellers block insurance website

04.09.00 - Wildnet New Media Group (Wildnet), a new media company specialising in the construction, management and marketing of web based interactive trading sites, has developed jewellersure.com on behalf of their client, the Lloyd’s syndicate – Watkins Syndicate 457.

The site launched today (4th September 2000) marks Wildnet’s tenth site to date. For the first time, jewellers and brokers will have instant quotations and be able to buy specific jewellers block insurance from a Lloyd’s syndicate online. Watkins’ Deputy Underwriter, Michael McCord comments, “The aim of jewellersure.com is to help insurance brokers gain instant access to expert knowledge and improve customer response times. Jewellers without insurance brokers, can also look at the site and then decide whether they want to go ahead directly or pass the information on to a broker.”

The site allows policyholders to view and control their coverage and inform underwriters of endorsements and claims. Michael McCord explains, “This allows a client’s policy to be extremely flexible to cope with elements such as continually changing stock and busy seasonal periods.”

Wildnet’s CEO, Mark Birrell comments, “To trade jewellers block insurance over the web has always been thought of as an impossible project. However, when we were approached by the Watkins syndicate they had the vision to believe this could be implemented. Without doubt this was an ambitious project and we are very excited by the potential of this website, giving the nature of the business and the products within the coverage.”
